Morning Brew – Olivia Wilde feels honored when women hit on her

Good morning!

I apologize in advance if Morning Brew ends up a little more “Late Morning Brew” in the next few weeks, as I’m at the Television Critics Association Winter Tour for the next few weeks. But I promise it will benefit you greatly. Yesterday, for example, I interviewed Ellen Page and her best friend Ian Daniel about their new series, Gaycation. It’s fantastic and I can’t wait to share our conversation with you.

But back to Brew!

Ruby Rose is fine with Jennifer Lawrence wanting to look like a slutty power lesbian.

“But what I do know is that Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress and an amazing advocate for women and women’s empowerment and the wage gap in Hollywood and so many amazing things. I think that is an easy quote to misinterpret or to pick apart. But I know that she has an amazing sense of humor, and for her to say that, I know that would never come from a bad place. She’s always spending so much of her time supporting other women and the LGBT community. There’s no way that she meant that with any kind of malice. If it was someone else, maybe I would think into it, but because it’s her, I just know what she meant.”

Slate tries to figure out what a slutty power lesbian looks like.

In some frustrating news, Gail and Holly so would have ended up together had Rookie Blue not been canceled. (Thanks, Valerie!)

Chloe Grace Moretz just doesn’t understand why people want to know about other’s sexual identities.

“I feel like we put so many labels on so many things in our society and my big issue is not just the fact that people are against LGBT [people], it’s the fact that we even have to come out and say who we’re interested in. There should never even be a question as to why they’re asking us that. It doesn’t matter! It’s not an issue. Why are we even living in a society where we have to answer those questions. That’s a question that shouldn’t be asked.”

Break-ups are rough, especially because you miss her dog 🙁 🙁 🙁

Sarah Paulson is so awesome in The People Vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, coming to FX next month. She talks about playing (and meeting) Marcia Clark with The Hollywood Reporter.

The woman who confronted Ben Carson about if he thought her being gay was a choice is bisexual-identified Rose Uscianowski.

Olivia Wilde says she is “proud to have played characters who’ve inspired people to live out loud, and I’m lucky to have reached an audience that’s been incredibly enthusiastic and supportive.” That’s us, guys! So she says she gets hit on by women all the time.

“It’s more of an honor when a woman hits on me. With a man, it’s like, yeah, you have a penis you can’t control and you were built to hit on everything that breathes. When it’s a woman, I always blush a little harder.”
