“True Blood” hires a Hispanic vampire
HBO’s vampire drama True Blood has just gotten a little hotter. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cuban-American actress Valerie Cruz has signed on to play an “elegant Hispanic vampire” named Isabel on the new season.
Dexter fans will recognize Cruz as having played Syvia Prado on the Showtime series, but she’s also made appearances in several other television shows, including Nip/Tuck, Crossing Jordan and an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
This is a great move for Cruz, whose most recent film The Devil’s Tomb (with costars Cuba Gooding Jr. and Taryn Manning) is going straight to DVD this May.
Where will she fit in among Sookie (Anna Paquin), Tara (Rutina Wesley) and the other vampiresses of Bon Temps? It’s interesting that her character description includes that she’s supposed to be “elegant” — I assume this means she won’t be working as a waitress at Merlotte’s.
How do you think Isabel will fit into True Blood?
