The “Eastwick” witch hunt is over

As Karman told us a few months ago, ABC is shooting a pilot, Eastwick, loosely based on — you guessed it — The Witches of Eastwick.

Now we know exactly which women will be working their magic for the show.

Jaime Ray Newman, best known as Mindy on Veronica Mars, will play Kat Rougemont, a “good-natured nurse and mom of five kids.”

Anyone who has five kids and is still good-natured has to have supernatural powers.

Lipstick Jungle’s Lindsay Price will play Joanna Frankel, a “shy, hardworking reporter for the local newspaper.”

A newspaper reporter who still has a job? Obviously, magic.

Rebecca Romijn, most recently Alexis Meade on Ugly Betty, will play Roxie Torcoletti, the leader of the witchy pack.

Roxie is “a Bohemian and sharp-tongued single mother.” I don’t know about her crafty powers, but “Bohemian?” I haven’t heard that term in years. Maybe she actually is from Bohemia. Czech, please.

My favorite casting news from Eastwick is that Veronica Cartwright has signed on.

Remember Felicia Alden from the movie? Yep, the one who heaved cherries. I don’t know if Felicia will make an appearance in Eastwick, but Cartwright is one of my favorite character actors and I love the meta factor.

No word yet on who will be the mysterious stranger who comes to town, i.e., the Jack Nicholson role. But the women are the real charmers for me regardless.

What do you think of the three witches of Eastwick? Will you join their circle?
