Annalise reunites with a former female lover on “How to Get Away with Murder”

Warning: This contains major spoilers for last night’s “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Wow, we did not see that one coming. Last night was the big TGIT Shondaland premiere night, with new episodes from Grey’s (baby gays!), Scandal (Fitz is still the worst) and How to Get Away with Murder. HTGAWM picks up 10 days after Rebecca was found murdered in Annalise’s basement. By the episode’s end, we will find out who killed Rebecca, and find Annalise fighting for her life.

That’s all very important for you to know, but that’s not why we are here. We are here because of this:

Yep, that is Annalise making out hardcore with a lady. That lady is Eve (played by Famke Janssen), the lawyer that Annalise slipped Nate a note to contact. Eve also happens to be Annalise’s ex-girlfriend (surprise!), who Annalise left for her late husband Sam (double surprise!). Well frankly we should have known there was some sexy lady times in the past when Eve surprised Annalise at the office.

Eve also happens to be a big time defense lawyer. Annalise is less that thrilled to see her, but Eve is looking for answers as to why Annalise tried to connect her to Nate. She thinks it means that Annalise and Nate killed Sam, but we know that’s not the case. Annalise and Eve haven’t spoken in years and Eve wants to walk away, but Annalise begs her not to go and take Nate’s case. He’s innocent and he needs the best defense there is.

Eve does take Nate’s case but Nate’s a tough cookie and not very forthcoming with her. Eve can tell he doesn’t trust her, so she tells him how she knows Annalise. They went to Harvard together and were “good friends.” Man, that’s a spin off I’d like to see: How to Get Away with Lesbianism. Nate tells Eve that Annalise framed him, something Eve was not aware of. She decides not to take his case, which is what Nate thought Annalise had planned anyway. He also promises to take Annalise down if he goes to jail.

Annalise finds a very angry Eve as she’s leaving town and tries to convince her to stay. Eve’s career would be on the line too, and she’s not exactly feeling very trusting towards Annalise at the moment. Annalise says she needs Eve to fix her mistake, but this is not the first time Annalise has used Eve, and Eve is done.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Annalise later finds out that Bonnie was the one who killed Rebecca. Jesus, both her right hands are murderers. Annalise is horrified, naturally, and calls Bonnie a monster. A tear soaked Annalise shows up at Eve’s apartment, and Eve invited her in. Annalise admits that Eve was right about her, but Eve is in a more forgiving mood today. Yes, Annalise and Eve were lovers and Annalise left her for Sam, her therapist. That doesn’t mean that Eve can’t help an ex out. Annalise admits that she’s protecting the person who killed Sam. They have a light moment when Eve teases Annalise about being an emotional mess when they were younger, and a hell of a lot of fun, too. When Eve gets up to prepare the guest room for Annalise, Annalise pulls her in for a passionate kiss.

Annalise apologizes but it turns out, Eve has been in love with her all these years. The kiss again and it’s pretty evident that more than kissing is about to go on. The next day, lo and behold, Eve is standing beside Nate as his new lawyer. It’s amazing what some lady loving can do.

Annalise is feeling good too because she takes the law interns out for a night at the club. Flash forward to two months later, Annalise is shot and Wes is running from the scene. Guess we know what the next big mystery is.

Come on, she just won an Emmy! You can’t kill Annalise now! Also, can we talk about awesome it is that Annalise Keating is bisexual? She’s a hugely important role on television right now, and I for one am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
