Morning Brew – Cara Delevingne responds to “Vogue” writer calling her bisexuality a phase

Good morning! Happy Friday!

A big win yesterday: The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) has found that anti-gay discrimination in the workplace falls under the existing law of sex discrimination, meaning you cannot be fired for being not-straight.

If you are keeping up with The Strain for Ruta Gedmintas, word has it her character’s ex-girlfriend is returning this season. Ruta talked with Xfinity about playing a bisexual character:

“I really like that. That, to me, is how it should be, that it’s not an issue-based thing. It’s just this is a character who happens to be bi, it doesn’t have to be discussed about…Dutch happens to find love with both men and women, and that’s the way it should be played.”

Catch her Sundays on FX.

This woman’s Orange is the New Black‘s character impressions are pretty on point.

Do you look like a scary female inmate? Orange wants you!

Meanwhile, The Wrap went drinking with the show’s Laura Gomez, Alysia Reiner and Jackie Cruz.

Priory’s video for their single “Put ‘Em Up” is full of gorgeous queer people.

Cara Delevingne told The New York Times she doesn’t feel that Vogue was “malicious” in their cover story about her, and was flattered by the petition started for an apology from the writer who inferred her bisexuality could be fleeting. Cara clarified:

“My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am.”

A few days ago, Miley Cyrus posted a meme you’ve surely seen before, where someone swapped Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber’s faces and said they looked like a cute lesbian couple. Well TSwizzle commented on the photo, “Sending you love,” which is exactly what I’m going to comment on my friend’s Instagram photos from now on.

I live for Taylor’s sassy comments…. She commented this on Miley’s pic

Ever wonder why there are so many lesbian chefs? Slate says “Lesbian cooking is a perfect balance between restraint and indulgence.” Hilarious and possibly true. I seek out lesbian chefs whenever I visit new cities, and I have yet to be disappointed.

29-year-old Stephanie Dorcean says she was assaulted by an off-duty police officer in Brooklyn, who called her a “piece of shit dyke” before punching and choking her. What the actual fuck?

The Buffalo Bisons held their first ever Pride night in Buffalo, NY this week.

Demi Lovato thinks more than one pop star can sing about wanting to kiss a girl. That’s right-Katy Perry doesn’t own bi-curious titillation!!! BTW, if any of you meet a girl who says she’s into you but “only for the summer,” tell her you don’t confine yourself to seasons or calendars.

Rowena Allen has been named Victoria’s first-ever Gender and Sexuality Commissioner. The out CEO will work to “champion the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse and intersex Victorians within the state government.” Very necessary!

If you are anywhere near the East Bay next month, PLEASE be a part of this Guinness World Record setting attempt to get the most Rosie the Riveters in one place at the same time. (Thanks Peter!)
