Morning Brew – Brittany Snow on Chloe’s sexuality in “Pitch Perfect”

Jill Dawson, the writer of a forthcoming Patricia Highsmith bio, penned a great piece about the background of The Price of Salt (the inspiration for the movie Carol) for The Guardian.

The Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs in DC is hosting a screening of the film I Am next Thursday. Filmmaker Sonali Gulati will be in attendance to talk about the film, which follows the Indian lesbian filmmaker as she “returns home to India to grieve the loss of her mother whom she never came out to.”

A blogger at Chicago Now wonders why she hates it so much that her daughter is a lesbian.

Brittany Snow talked with OUT about her character’s perceived queerness.

“We never set out to make her anything,” Snow says of Chloe, who cornered Beca in the shower and demanded she sing during the first film. “It was never supposed be bisexual or lesbian. I think she was one of those girls who love everyone-but people can take that however they want it.”

“I think the way I first understood my lesbianism, before I had more of a political awareness of it, was like: Oh, I’m a man trapped in a female body. I would’ve just gone down that road if it had been there. But I’m so glad it wasn’t, because I really like being this kind of unusual woman. I like making this new space in the world.”
