Did Naya Rivera just come out as bisexual on “The View”?

As if it’s not enough that Glee actress/singer Naya Rivera Dorsey is half of one of television’s most beloved queer couples, it appears she may have just casually come out as bisexual on The View. Naya has been guest hosting on the popular morning show this week, and managed to get in some hot water yesterday with her

Today, Naya joined Rosie O’Donnell and The View co-hosts in discussing recent findings from a study performed by the Stonewall UK Women’s Health Survey. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine looked into the initial 2007 study and according to their research found that the bisexual women in the study dealt with higher rates of self harm, depression, and eating disorders than their lesbian contemporaries, most likely due to stigma and being marginalized by both the hetero and gay communities. The View delved into the issue, and here’s is what transpired.

Rosie: New research found that women who are bisexual are more likely to suffer from mental health problems than lesbians.

Naya Rivera: Rosie, no wonder I’m crazy. This just solves it all.

Here’s a brief clip of the exchange, and we will post the official View clip when it becomes available.

While it was an offhanded (and perhaps a little insensitive) comment, did Naya Rivera Dorsey just come out? Naya is recently married to actor Ryan Dorsey, so ladies, no need to get in line. But if Naya is indeed opening up about being bisexual, having another young actress come out is a great step for bi visibility and acceptance. This world needs a hell of a lot more of that, and a lot less stigma for the bisexual members of the LGBTQ community.
