“Lost Girl” star Ksenia Solo to join “Orphan Black”

You know when two great things which are both great separately come together to make something even greater? Like peanut butter and chocolate? Well consider this the peanut butter and chocolate of casting news. Lost Girl‘s Ksenia Solo is joining Orphan Black.

Yesterday BBC America announced a number of cast additions to their hit clonespiracy Orphan Black. Among them was Solo, who fans already know as Kenzi on the Showcase/Syfy series Lost Girl. She will play Shay, “a soulful and compassionate holistic healer with a great sense of humor destined to become a new friend to Cosima Niehaus.”

Kenzi is going to be besties with Cosima? Christmas came early and it stuffed our stockings full with fandom wish fulfillment.

Also joining the Orphan Black for its third season will be Shameless star Justin Chatwin as a savvy drug-dealing businessman, True Blood alum James Frain as a charming and intimidating “cleaner,” Warehouse 13 vet Kyra Harper as a ruthless military doctor and Murdoch Mysteries actor Earl Pastko as the frightening personal bodyguard for Frain’s character.

Solo’s addition to the cast is particularly welcome given her character’s uncertain fate leading into the fifth and final season of Lost Girl. The sidekick extraordinaire/Bo’s heart/human firecracker sacrificed herself to save the world at the end of last season. Her return to the supernatural series, which premieres Dec. 7, has been shrouded in mystery.

Luckily, now we know we’ll see Solo again in some form—and acting alongside Tatiana Maslany, no less.
