Obama and the holograms

Wow. Watching history in the making is exhausting. Here’s to history!

Without a doubt, this election has made use of technology in ways we couldn’t imagine even four years ago. So, it’s only appropriate that news networks pulled out all the high tech stops in reporting the results.

The strangest, by far, was the weird hologram of Jessica Yellin on CNN. Yellin was in Chicago at the huge rally for Obama, but her holographic image was “beamed in” to the studio for a conversation with Wolf Blitzer. Here’s the clip.

I don’t know much about Jessica Yellin, but tonight she revealed something major: She is a geek. I mean that in the best possible way. Yellin was more excited about explaining the technology of the holographic process than she was about the Obama rally. She even said, “It’s like I followed the tradition of Princess Leia.”

I looked up Yellin’s bio and discovered she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard. Of course she did. As of tonight, I have a new president and a new crush. Life is good.

Also beamed in from Chicago was musician and Black Eyed Pea, Will.I.Am.

What was your favorite part about watching election returns? Did technology make a difference in how you approached the campaign?
