According to Smith-Malave’s lawyer, Yetta Kurland, about 10 “young adults” followed the women, shouted anti-gay epithets, spat on them and then beat them. Kurland is seeking to have the attack investigated as a hate crime. The New York Daily News has a few more details, but the full story is still forthcoming.
