Patricia Cornwell is writing a drama for CBS

Bestselling (lesbian) novelist Patricia Cornwell is working on a new pilot for CBS. According to reports, the show will follow “a character named Angie Steele, a brilliant, unorthodox detective who works for San Diego’s Major Crimes Unit. She finds that demons from her past come back to haunt her.”

Don’t they always?

Although several of Patricia’s books have been adapated for television before, this show will be all original characters, as in, she’s never included them in her novels. Speaking of, we’re still waiting for that Kay Scarpetta film to happen.

No word on if Angie Steele will have any queerness about her, but we can hope! Although Patricia’s major female characters are often of the straight variety, she has included some LGBT characters in her work. It’d be incredible to see a lesbian lead in a network show like this, and certainly set it apart from the other shows about similar detectives on TV. (Hint hit, Pat!)

In totally unrelated news, Patricia recently donated $500,000 to her wife’s marijuana research study. That’s love!
