“Face Off” Mini-Cap (7.8): The horror, the horror

on

Oh, great. Even Face Off has caught early Halloween fever. It’s not enough that Halloween decorations began popping up in stores weeks ago. Now the Syfy show has brought the frights more than a month early with an all horror challenge. But, that’s fine. Longer Halloween season means longer period to eat all of the Halloween candy you’ve bought for “the children.” Yeah, the children.

THE CHALLENGE:
The Foundation Challenge was to recreate the iconic Bloody Mary character. Emmy-winning Buffy and True Blood makeup artist Brigette Myre Ellis judged the challenge and Rachael’s grotesquely beautiful face-stealer won her immunity. Then the Spotlight Challenge was to create a horror character based on a fictional horror movie poster.

THE TWIST:
The winner will have his or her creation featured in the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios annual scarefest. So less of a twist, more of a reward.

THE GOOD:
George’s Axe Girlfriend was simple, but simply awesome. It was grotesquely gorgeous. Is that a thing? Well, it is now.

THE BAD:
Sasha, Keaghlan and Dina all stumbled with sub-par creations. Sasha made crayon veins, Keaghlan made an indistinguishable twisted torso and Dina–ooof–Dina. We’ll talk more about her later. But in the end, the judges deemed Sasha’s ashen creation the worst. But, TWIST, they used their one-time save to keep her in the competition. See, now that was an actual twist.

THE RANDOM:
Guys, guys–Drew made himself. Seriously, with warts and without hair, but himself.

THE WTF WERE THEY THINKING:
Dina, girl, you made a reindeer? Rudolph the red-nosed nope.

THE GAY:
Stella came out strong this week and made a convincing mutant hillbilly head taxidermist. There’s a job description to inspire nightmares. The judges liked her creation’s head form, and she was safe to sculpt for another week.

So, what do you think of this week’s big save? Stella’s work? But, seriously, Drew made himself.
