We were first introduced to AzMarie Livingston on Cycle 18 of America’s Next Top Model. An aspiring fashion model from Wisconsin, AzMarie didn’t win but she did start booking jobs, including acting roles in DTLA as Melanie Griffith‘s girlfriend.

But now she’s getting a second chance at a big break with a role on Fox’s upcoming hip hop drama Empire. With out Precious director Lee Daniels at the helm and showrunner Ilene Chaiken behind the project for Fox, we have strong faith that AzMarie will be playing someone queer. Her character is named Chicken.

Empire is described as “a sexy and powerful new drama about the head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne.” The all-star cast includes Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Gabourey Sidibe.

As seen in this preview below, one of the sons, Jamal, is gay, and his dad thinks “sexuality is a choice.”

Empire won’t air until 2015, but we’re excited to see what this great team comes up with.
