Last Friday night was the opening gala for Outfest Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theater and Lianna Carrera and I hit the yellow carpet to talk with filmmakers, stars and Outfest director Kristen Schaffer about the lesbian films part of this year’s offerings. The comedy Life Partners made its West Coast premiere and stars of the film including Gillian Jacobs (Community) and Simone Bailly (The L Word) were joined on the red carpet by co-writers Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz (who are also behind ABC Family’s hit series Chasing Life). Other interviewees include Guinevere Turner on her film Crazy Bitches, Aubree Bernier-Clarke of The Night is Ours, and Char Duran, the subject of one out Outfest’s best documentaries this summer, Queens and Cowboys: A Straight Year on the Gay Rodeo.
