15 New Photos from “L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin”

When L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin premieres on August 8, the documentary will feature lesbian-identified women who are living their lives in the South. These new photos from Showtime give us a glimpse into what kinds of things will happen on the 92-minute film, and it looks like a lot more church-going, gun-toting and horse riding than on previous L Word incarnations.

What it will likely have in common, however, is reconciling being an out woman in a society that isn’t always so accepting, and how rural areas can prove to be even more difficult and possibly unsafe just to be who you are. Throw in things like interracial dating, gay marriage and butch identities and watch as small town America struggles to wrap their minds around diversity and equality in their own backyards.
