Good morning! A huge thank you to Dana Piccoli for covering Brew while I was out yesterday.

First a huge congrats to Oregon and Idaho for their victories in equal marriage.

Ilene Chaiken has picked up another new gig as showrunner for the new series Empire. The L Word creator will be working with out director Lee Daniels on the show that has been described as “a soapy family drama, set in the world of a hip-hop empire.” Put a lesbian or two on it, Ilene! No Papi hats, though.

Just when Two and a Half Men was becoming slightly more watchable (lesbians!), it’s getting canceled after season 12.

Melissa McCarthy talked with The Advocate about her new film, Tammy. It appears the movie is even gayer than I knew, including a coming out story and a lesbian dance party. Here’s Melissa on the lesbian couple in the movie, played by Kathy Bates and Sandra Oh.

They’re based on some of my couple friends. They’re the goal. As Tammy and her grandmother spiral downward, we wanted them to see this lovely, adjusted couple and realize that, if they made an effort, they could have that, too. Kathy and Sandra played it beautifully. Sandra and Kathy had known each other from before, so they had this fantastic ease together. I totally bought them as a dreamy couple. They just looked so in love, like they’d been together forever. They didn’t even need to speak; Kathy would give Sandra these looks and I’d think, Aww, that’s the good stuff. They were magical together.

She also shares how much she loves gay people in general. The feeling is mutual, Mel.

Imogene is back in Degrassi next month.

Michelle Rodriguez talked with Gay Star News about coming out.

“I’m not big on people’s opinions, you know? Unless it’s somebody I really respect. I don’t care what people out there have to say. But I do realize the importance of having the bravery to live as who you are and I feel like a lot of people don’t have that bravery. Maybe by me opening my big fat mouth like I usually do and stepping up and owning who I am, maybe it might inspire somebody else to do the same.”
We finally have our first photo from One Big Happy. Here’s the main cast, with Elisha Cuthbert as the pregnant lesbian.
