Morning Brew – Starbucks ad for Oprah’s Chai Latte features lesbian moms

Good morning Brewbies! I am stepping in for the Divine Miss B (Bendix of course) today to bring you the Morning Brew.

Orphan Black fans, it’s about to get REAL for Cosima. Real terrible if Rachel has anything to do with it. Here is a teaser for next week’s episode.

Looks like Glee fans will have to wait until 2015 to see the final season of the musical dramedy. It was left off the fall schedule, and will have a midseason debut. How curious. No word yet if Naya Rivera or Heather Morris will return for the sixth season.

Can’t get enough Ellen Page? Tell me about it. Well our very own Marcie Bianco wrote about EP in her debut column for Women and Hollywood, “Reading Ellen Page’s Sexuality“. Great job Marcie!

Thursday nights are getting even more Shonda-fied. In addition to Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, ABC is adding Shonda Rhimes’ new Viola Davis led legal series How to Get Away with Murder to the Thursday line up. Grey’s Anatomy will be shifted to the 8pm time slot, which has fans worried that the move will put a damper on some of the show’s more adult content. By adult content, I mean Calzona sexy times. For the love of god, don’t take away our sexy times.

Orange is the New Black‘s fans sure are a talented and creative bunch. @Emmaypayn7 has created some fantastic (and accurate) OITNB scenes out of Lego. The dryer scene is my fav.

Just a reminder of why Margaret Cho is so awesome.

“Snuggling Starbucks Lesbians”? Sounds delightful. Make mine a Venti. HuffPo reports that American’s for Truth About Homosexuality (a bit wordy, no?) is up in arms about Starbuck’s recent ad for Oprah’s Teavana Chai Latte that features about three seconds of two mom’s cuddling their baby.

Sia appears to be a little excited about her upcoming appearance on Ellen. Joining her will be Maddie Ziegler, the 12- year-old-dance phenom who stars in Sia’s “Chandelier” video.

Outfest has announced their Gala Screenings schedule, and it includes Susan Fogel‘s Life Partners and Desiree Akhavan‘s Appropriate Behavior in addition to other fine films.

The film Violette won the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival’s Jury Selection for Best Feature Film. Violette tells the story of French writer Violette LeDuc and her complicated relationship with famed feminist Simone de Beauvoir. It looks absolutely stunning. Check out the trailer here.

Yea for new lesbian webseries! The K&A webseries premieres today and features the misadventures of Karly (the straight one) and Alex (the lesbian), two best friends who can’t quite get their shiz together. Bring on the mimosas.

Also new to the scene is Scissr, which focuses on a group of young, queer Brooklynites and the app that brought them together.
