The New York Times has a great piece on Robin Roberts, calling her “The Morning Muse of Television.” In it, she talked about why she struggled with coming out early on.

“I was struggling with it because of my religious beliefs and what you’re taught,” she said. But that changed when she came out to her mother, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts, in her early 30s. “When your mother says to you, you’re a child of God and you’re my child and He loves you because of who He is, and not because of anything you did or didn’t do, I was good.”
