Out’s Power List has several new additions this year, including Ellen Page, Megan Ellison, Brittney Griner, Jenna Lyons, Robin Roberts and Roberta Kaplan. Ellen DeGeneres tops the list this year, with Rachel Maddow at number three.
“It’s nice to keep those things fresh in the minds of the networks and producers that are funding all these things and hearing what people want to see. I’ve [auditioned] for three characters in the last week and a half that are lesbian characters, so clearly this thing has a huge impact. Many gays and lesbians aren’t represented in small towns, so to be represented on TV is huge.”
