Morning Brew – Miranda Lambert wants gays to be who they are

Good morning!

I’m so happy to hear country artists like Miranda Lambert are making songs like “All Kinds of Kinds,” which are about being who you are, and loving every bit of it. She tells Spin:

Yeah, it’s pretty crazy that country radio embraced cross-dressing and played it on the radio. It’s fricking awesome, actually. [Laughs.] I think it’s really cool that that song was able to be a single. I love that song – it really came at a good time in my life. I had to just sort of come to this realization that it was all about being who you are, no matter what you are about, where you come from, what color you are, or if you’re gay or straight, or whatever it is. I was just getting to that point in my life where I was starting to accept people for who they are, and myself.

Alongside allies like Jennifer Nettles, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood, it really feels like country stars are starting to speak out for equality. It’s so awesome.

Speaking of honoring rad women, The Atlanta Hawks will be giving Robin Roberts their Be Greater Award at their March 21 game. Says Bob Williams, President, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena:

“Robin Roberts embodies every aspect of what it means to be a champion, and the Atlanta Hawks are honored to celebrate her courage, spirit and philanthropy. She reminds each of us through her actions, to strive to be greater in everything that we do.”

A bunch of UK dudes were asked about annoying things women do. Number 32: “Lesbians.” I think it’s a joke but, no. Also, lesbians isn’t something you “do,” really.

I took the Buzzfeed “Which L Word character are you?” quiz this week and got Alice. So did someone else.

I haven’t seen anyone get a Tina, Dana or Bette yet. Mostly Shanes, Jennys and a Tasha on my Facebook friends and Twitter feed.
