Morning Brew – Tatiana Maslany, Mia Kirshner, Maria Bello at Canadian Screen Awards

Good morning!

Oh Canada! Last night some of our faves hit the red carpet at the Canadian Screen Awards.

Tatiana Maslany won the Shaw Media Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role.

Zoie Palmer and Anna Silk presented an award, while Zoie also had the opportunity to say thanks for her winning Fan Choice Award for Favourite Canadian Screen Star.

Orphan Black‘s French chanteuse, Evelyne Brochu, sparkled on the red carpet.

Toronto’s own Mia Kirshner took the stage to present.

Pretty Little Liars star/proud Canuck Shay Mitchell presented an award, too.

Maria Bello was in the house for a tribute to director David Cronenberg.

I love Mia Kirshner’s look, although it might be a little too dark for the Dinah. Laurel Holloman is more of a California girl, though, and has joined the line-up for the Palm Springs party!

And because we can’t do anything on The L Word without mentioning Bette Porter, Jennifer Beals is going to star in a new TNT pilot called Proof. That’s great news since ABC didn’t pick up her other project with Ilene Chaiken.

So you know how Shakira has that very sexy video with Rihanna? Turns out it’s, uh, inspired by Shakira’s boyfriend. From an interview with Billboard:

“He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women,” she says with a laugh. “It’s more than implied in our relationship that I can’t do videos like I used to. It’s out of the question – which I like, by the way. I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna.”
That makes me feel icky.

Cara Delevigne will be making her acting debut in the UK show Timeless. It’s a TV movie also starring Matthew Perry, and the model will play “a young woman whose fiance is serving in Afghanistan, bringing her closer to her great grandmother.”
