Leslie Shay, Swan Queen and Santana: Our Fall TV Wish List

Summer is over, the air has a crisp feel to it, the apples are starting to taste like apples again, and it’s nearly time for our favorite Fall shows to return. Before the season begins we live in a splendid world where everything is possible, a blank slate of a day with no mistakes in it yet and it got us thinking about what we would like to see from our favorite shows.

So, here are a few of the things we hope TV Santa brings us this fall. We’ve all been good little lesbians this year and we hope we’re royally rewarded.

Once Upon A Time (Returns Sunday, September 29 at 8 p.m. on ABC)

As the Once Upon A Time recapper, I would love to see a queer character. At all. Anywhere. As much as we’d love for it to be Regina/Emma, Ruby/Belle or Mulan/Aurora, they’ve made it clear that if they add a gay character, it wouldn’t be someone we already know. The Storybrooke gang is going to run into Ariel in Neverland-lesbian mermaid, anyone? Bisexual Tiger Lily? Sexually fluid Tinkerbell? But seriously, even if it wasn’t a famous fairy tale character, just SOMEONE who is not white as snow and straight as an arrow. Hell, I’d even take it in Once Upon A Time in Wonderland. Lesbians + magic is always a wonderful combination. (Punky Starshine)

Ravenswood (Begins Tuesday, October 22 at 9 p.m. on ABC Family)

1) To share a water supply with Rosewood so that 85 percent of characters are lesbians.

2) Introduce a gay dude to the Pretty Little Canon.

3) Shana’s death ferry to make appearances often and with further explanation of her whole creeptastic deal. (Heather Hogan)

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Begins Tuesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC)

1) Let Ming-Na Wen play a lesbian again!

2) Don’t make the female characters into catalysts for the dudely heroes’ drama.

3) Joss’ fingerprints all over everything. His voice, his magic touch. (Heather Hogan)

I’d love to see a queer character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Guy or girl, doesn’t matter. (Dana Piccoli)

Glee (Returns Thursday, September 26 at 9 p.m. on FOX)

1) Handle Cory Monteith‘s death/tribute episode with uncommon grace instead of the usual sledgehammer.

2) Give Santana a girlfriend and let them do more than hold hands in the background of other people’s stories.

3) Give Unique a love interest that is not horrible Ryder and his horrible Catfishing storyline. (Heather Hogan)

I really need Glee to not blow this Dantana storyline. Demi is a talented girl, and it would be great to see some smart, funny convos between those two plus way more sweet lady kisses. Santana is growing up and I’d like to see that reflected in her new relationships.

Rachel is going to need a friend in the worst possible way, early in the season. I want Santana to be that friend. I want them to find a way for Santana and Rachel to have a come to Jesus moment, where they can be who they are but connect as friends in a way we haven’t seen before. (Dana Piccoli)

Chicago Fire (returns Tuesday, September 24 at 10 p.m. on NBC)

1. Kill the Shay-Severide baby storyline. Kill it dead, bury it deep in the Earth. Let us never speak of it again.

2. Give Shay a real love interest. Give her a lady worthy of her affection and give them a real storyline with heart and humor.

3. Keep up the Shawson friendship. Lauren German and Monica Raymund’s chemistry is one of the highlights of the show, don’t screw it up. (Lucy Hallowell)

Yes, Shay needs to meet cute with somebody. Preferably with an adorable pair of hipster glasses. Chicago is a big city full of gay girls. Have her break away from the inner circle and maybe she will find her own Paige McCullers. (Dana Piccoli)

Grey’s Anatomy (Returns Thursday, September 26 at 9 PM on ABC)

Oh man, this is going to be a rough season. I’d like Calzona to have a real conversation about the resentment that built up between them and why Arizona did what she did. I want to see Callie deal and grow on her own for a while. Arizona’s PTSD needs to be addressed in a thoughtful and real way. I read last night that Callie and Meredith would be growing closer as friends and I’d love to see that. (Dana Piccoli)

The Good Wife (Returns Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. on CBS)

This season on The Good Wife, my wish is for Kalinda to find someone that’s worth her letting her guard down. Knowing she has a new interest that will challenge her in being more out gives me hope that she will be evolving and leaving behind the bizarrely lackluster Kalinda of last season. (I blame the husband.) I know Kalinda is bisexual, but I just want her to find herself able to relate to one person (sure, I prefer a woman but any person) on a more intimate level that she has refused thus far. Not only will be good TV but will also give us more insight into the mystery that is Ms. Sharma. (Trish Bendix)

Now it’s your turn: What are you hoping to see from your old favorites and the new shows you’re looking forward to this Fall?
