Morning Brew – Taylor Swift performs “Closer” with Tegan and Sara

Happy Hump Day people!

Alison Bechdel wrote a piece for the O Magazine “Hair” issue about the troubles she’s gone to to keep up her short shorn ‘do. I loved that they included her amongst the feminine straight women. This is why I subscribe!

Taylor Swift brought Tegan and Sara to sing “Closer” on stage at the Staples Center last night. OK FINE TAYLOR YOU ARE A FRIEND OF THE LESBIANS.

If you’re in the UK, the Aussie prison drama Wentworth is coming to your telly August 28. As for us in the U.S., we’ll get Last Tango in Halifax on Sept. 8 on PBS.

Rutina Wesley has filed for divorce from her longtime husband. Speaking of Tara, TVLine asked True Blood EP Brian Buckner why nothing happened with Tara and Pam this season:

“As the audience heard Pam say in Episode 1, life is long – especially for vampires. She also told Tara that this is not going to be a love story. But I would urge [fans] to be patient. Because if the show delivers on the audience’s expectation every week, that’s not storytelling. Where’s the surprise in that? These [story] threads can be picked up later. I want to be able to tell more interesting, circuitous stories at times and not always deliver on the junk-food promise of the show. “
TVLine also talked with Taryn Manning, who was asked about Laura Prepon‘s OITNB exit:
“I haven’t seen her [on set] and I miss her. I don’t know what’s going on with all of that. For me, I can’t worry about that. I’m just there doing my job.”
Which means there have yet to be any Penssatucky and Alex interactions. That is so unfortunate.

Jane Lynch will be hosting Hollywood Game Night again next summer. I’d like her to do an all celesbian episode where she calls in her friends.

An xoJane writer wonders “When is the right moment to tell a guy who might be hitting on you that you’re a lesbian?” My answer: Immediately. As soon as a man walks in the room, begin yelling “MAN ON THE LAND!” and make it abundantly clear.

In sad news, Kaitlyn Hunt is back in a South Florida jail after a judge found her to be guilty of violating her court order (aka continuing her relationship with her younger girlfriend).

Blue is the Warmest Color has received an NC-17 rating for its overt sexiness, so make sure you have your ID on you when it hits theaters.

I love this new song from Young Galaxy, who has a lesbian drummer BTW. It’s called “Crying My Heart Out.”

Out musician Lucy Spraggan is readying her new album Last Night and she talked about her wild lesbian fans with Metro.

“I’ve had to get security to stand outside my bus because some of them wouldn’t leave. They were waiting for the door to open. They’re all a bit mental but there’s a great atmosphere at my shows.”

Thanks to Gulf for the tip!
