2013 Emmys: Jane Lynch gets a nomination, Tatiana Maslany does not
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced this morning, and despite the most ardent hopes and dreams and prayers of AfterEllen readers, Tatiana Maslany didn’t get a nod after all, even though she (brilliantly!) plays the entire female cast of Orphan Black. It’s not really a surprise – Orphan Black is a sci-fi show on an obscure channel – but it’s pretty ridiculous that seven women were nominated in the Lead Actress in a Drama category and Maslany could play all of their characters at the same time. On the upside, Jane Lynch pulled down another nomination for her role on Glee. And House of Cards got a few nods, which means that Netflix’s Emmy dreams are now in play, which means Orange Is the New Black might make an appearance next year.
Also, last week The Rachel Maddow Show and Chely Wright‘s Wish Me Away were nominated for News/Documentary Emmys.
Otherwise, this year is basically more of the straight, white same as always.
