Rooney Mara (Side Effects, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) has signed on to star in Trash. Mara will play an NGO worker in the film, adapted from Andy Mulligan’s 2010 novel of the same name.

Jodie Foster’s sci-fi thriller Elysium is being digitally remastered. The upgrade is so the film can appear on the larger screen format IMAX when it’s released on August 9.
On Wednesday, July 17 actress Parker Posey will be raising money for LGBT youth. For the second year in a row Posey will emcee Oasis, a fundraiser for the Ali Forney Center. The center provides shelter for LGBT youth in New York City. The event starts at 7 p.m. at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.
US magazine reports that Ellen DeGeneres went furniture shopping sans makeup. Wow, the stars really ARE just like us.
One Million Moms is targeting Disney Channel’s show Good Luck Charlie for featuring a storyline with two lesbian mothers. The episode isn’t scheduled to air until 2014 but these ladies are urging the network to scrap the entire episode. In one of the episodes, parent Amy and Bob Duncan schedule a playdate for their preschooler, Charlie, with a new friend who happens to have two mothers.
Tonight at 8 p.m. Sandra Bernhard will take the stage at The Crown & Anchor (247 Commercial St.) in Provincetown, MA.
