Welcome to the Grey’s Anatomy episode “Things We Said Today.” (Which makes me wonder if this episode was named after a t.A.T.u. song. Well, either way, this installment should be called “Sex and Tears.”)
In this episode, wedding bells finally ring for Bailey and Ben (thank gawd!) and Callie and Arizona head to a hotel for some sexy times (thank super gawd!)
In the last Grey‘s installment (which aired in December 2012) Richard’s wife Adele arrived at Seattle Grace coughing up blood. When Richard and Bailey got word, they headed back to the hospital which greatly delayed Bailey’s wedding to Ben.
Now all the wedding guests are now stuck hanging out, murmuring and munching on wedding food. As Callie fills her plate, Arizona lures her away with the thought of hotel room sex. (This will be the first time they have been intimate since the plane crash.)
Back at Seattle Grace, Bailey (sans wedding dress) races to save Adele’s life with the help of Meredith. Adele is brought into the OR and Bailey and Meredith scramble to try and figure out how to fix the problem. A guilt-ridden Richard sits up in the gallery wracking his brain to find a way to save his wife. Luckily, Richard calls down to Bailey and offers up a solution that works.
As Adele opens her eyes she recognizes her husband for the first time in a long time. Adele says, “Richard, you came. Stay with me.” Richard vows to never leave her side again.
Speaking of vows, Ben shows up at the hospital and whisks Bailey back to their wedding.
Meanwhile Callie and Arizona arrive in their hotel room and Callie is revving to go. Arizona says she needs a minute to herself to remove her leg and slink into bed. Callie hides out in the bathroom and eagerly primps. As Callie emerges freshly showered and ready to pounce on her wife, she sees that Arizona is still fully dressed and still wearing her prosthetic leg.
A saddened Arizona says, “I wanted to be spontaneous and fun, but I can’t, and I’m so sorry, Callie. I’m not ready. Please don’t be mad.” Callie isn’t mad and instead calls room service and orders champagne.
Callie says, “After the car accident, you never left my side, not once. There’s no way I’m leaving yours.”
Arizona asks Callie, “What would you say to a good, old-fashioned junior high make-out?”
As the women start to kiss I’m reminded how much chemistry these two actresses have together. Go Calzona!
Speaking of getting it on, Cristina and Owen have sex, admit that their marriage was a mistake, cry and then sign divorce papers. (Now that their marriage is finally over, I’m actually really sad.)
As Bailey and Ben celebrate their nuptials Richard shows up looking dapper. Bailey is so grateful to see him but is pulled away for her first dance with Ben. Meredith walks over to Richard and can sense that something is wrong.
Meredith says, “You’re here?” Then she realizes what this means and says, “No. When?”
Richard reveals that Adele died of a heart attack. Meredith puts her arm around Richard and they both cry.
As Richard watches Bailey and Ben dance, he visualizes himself dancing with Adele on their wedding day.
R.I.P. Adele Webber.
For the rest of the Grey‘s cast, chaos ensues. Alex and intern Jo Wilson (played by Camilla Luddington) have a competition to out depress each other with their super sad life stories. Then they break into someone else’s hotel room and steal the bathrobes and contents of their minibar. Intern Shane (played by Gaius Charles) tells April he can’t sleep with her. April, who of course had no intention of sleeping with anyone (per Jesus’s request), is completely embarrassed.
April tries to suck it up and salvage the rest of the party. Avery’s evening has a much more exciting outcome. He and his wedding date, intern Stephanie (played by Jerrika Hinton), end up having sex in his car. (Apparently, Avery is officially over April.)
I have decided this is the horniest hospital staff in the world.
What did you think of this episode? Will you miss Adele? Do you think it’s really over between Cristina and Owen?
