Time-Traveling Newlyweds Madame Vastra and Jenny Will Solve More Crime and Kick More Ass on “Doctor Who”

There’s nothing quite as giddy-making as BBC/BBC America flashing up the words “Next Time” after an episode of Doctor Who and immediately following it with scenes of Madame Vastra and Jenny – which is exactly what happened this weekend after “Journey to the Center of the TARDIS.” The last time we saw our favorite time-traveling, crime-fighting, interspecies lesbian couple was the Christmas special when we found out that Vastra and Jenny are actually married. (“Good evening. I’m a lizard woman from the dawn of time. And this is my wife.”) And now they’re back with Strax for “The Crimson Horror.”

Here’s BBC’s official preview:

Let’s watch Jenny wrestle a full-grown man to the ground again, shall we?

You want to get even more excited? OK! In their spoiler-free review of the upcoming episode, SFX promised:

Expect a significantly belated entrance for the Doctor and Clara – enough to let you fantasise that this is the Madame Vastra spin-off show you’ve always wanted.

After Vastra and Jenny’s first co-appearance in “A Good Man Goes to War,” the lesbian internet started buzzing like bananas about the couple, begging and wishing and hoping and praying for a spin-off. Steven Moffat even joked about it on Twitter. But after their appearance (and subsequent webisodes) in “The Snowmen,” the Whovian community at large began to wonder what would happen of Strax and Jenny and Vastra teamed up to travel through time and fight crime on their own show. I guess we’ll get to see exactly what that will look like this weekend.

I still haven’t given up hope that a spin-off really will happen. If Moffatt/BBC have given so much screentime to the trio in a single episode, they must know viewers are clamoring for it.

What do you think of the news that Vastra and Jenny are returning once more?
