“The Challenge: Battle of the Exes” SnapCap (22.01) – Exes Are Sweeter With Honey

Last night was the premiere episode of MTV’s latest version of The Challenge: Battle of the Exes. It’s been a
while since I’ve made it through an entire season of one of these, mostly because somewhere towards the middle I usually end up feeling
like I’m about to catch an STD through the screen or there ends up
being too much Wes camera
time. I would rather be locked inside a room with this
video
playing on repeat than have to watch that ginger dill-hole
for five minutes.

This season I’ve decided to devote my time to the show because after
interviewing Rachel Robinson
and Aneesa Feirrera
, the
show’s only gay team, I was intrigued by how Rachel described her
feelings upon coming home. Also, who am I kidding, I don’t really need
an excuse to watch something like this; I live for it.

Since this is the first of our snap caps, here’s what I’ll be grading
each episode on the following categories:

DOUCHEBAGGERY

On a scale of Leroy (minimal
douche factor) to Wes (douche
factory), this episode was pretty light on the ugliness. We got a bit
of a walk through memory lane and heard about when the couples either
fell in love or got wasted and had a one-night-stand. Some of the
couples sound like they might genuinely still have feelings for each
other, like CT and Diem. Others are bitching about
their partner and that’s usually when you know they’ll end up hooking
up again about two tequila bottles from now. Of course, this is only
the first episode and as Paula
so eloquently states, “This is like drama’s wet dream.” When you’re
right you’re right.

LADIES KICKING ASS

Camilla not only impressed me
with her mad honey scooping skills, she also got my high-five award for
not letting Wes control the game or trick her into giving him any
information. Other than that, the show didn’t have a whole lot of
bravado, but I guess that’s to be expected for a first episode.

EYE CANDY

While I find some of the competitors attractive, it’s not easy for me
to look at anyone in bike shorts and a sports bra. I’ve always thought Robin was cute. I’d also like to say
I have a total friend crush on Naomi.
I feel like she’d be a lot of fun to have around so you could listen to
her make comments about everything.

DAMN CHALLENGE, YOU SO CRAZY

This challenge is far less complicated or labor intensive as some of
the ones that I’m sure are to follow. The hardest part was obviously
catching their footing once the beam they were trying to get across was
soaked in honey. Poor Nate was
the obvious loser of the entire episode after falling on his ass
repeatedly. Apparently it may have been his own fault for drinking all
night.

THE NIGHT’S BIG WINNERS AND BIG LOSERS

The
first Power Couple of the
season is Johnny and Camilla. They had control over who
was being sent into The Dome.

The first couple sent home was, no surprise here, Nate and Priscilla. Better luck next challenge y’all!

What do you think so far? I am just really anxious to see some drama because even if I say I hate it, we all know I am lying.
