“The L Word” alum Mia Kirshner joins SyFy series “Defiance”
The upcoming SyFy series Defiance is quickly becoming the show with the highest used-to-play-gay female star ratio on television. The latest news is that The L Word alum Mia Kirshner has joined the cast of the science fiction drama. Kirshner, who played the love-her or hate-her or really-really-hate-her Jenny Schecter for six seasons on The L Word, was last seen on The Vampire Diaries. Defiance is set on a futuristic Earth which has returned to its frontier roots after a series of wars. Humans and aliens live together on the planet, terra forming the planet.
According to Deadline.com, Kirshner will play Kenya the town’s “self-assured, dauntless” madam. Her profession and devotion to the town has “inexorably woven her into many of its complicated affairs.” She will join a cast that already includes Desperate Housewives and Dexter alum Julie Benz and Warehouse 13/Spartacus/Ringer veteran Jaime Murray. Fionnula Flanagan (Lost) plays a popular ex-mayor of Defiance and Grant Bowler (True Blood) its “Chief Lawkeeper.”
So, thoughts on Kirshner’s addition to Defiance? Hopes for the series? All I know is with that many ladies who know how to make with the lady loving, there’d better still be lesbians in the future.
