9:15 a.m. Paul Lee, President of ABC Entertainment Group
ABC is home to several successful shows with gay and lesbian characters, and Paul Lee is proud of it. I asked him if we could expect to see more on new or existing shows.
We haven’t picked up our pilots shows but there are lots of storylines — yeah I’m really proud of that. Greek was another one I would pick out.
What Grey’s did, what Pretty Little Liars did, what Greek did — I’m really proud of that. It’s what we should be doing, at it’s best those are the shows that show how well it can be done and I feel passionate about that — I feel passionate about diversity, and diversity of any sort. You look at the casting of shows like Modern Family or shows like LOST; these are some of the best, most interesting casting out there.
I’m super proud of what we did on Greek and Pretty Little Liars. So yeah I feel passionately about that.
Lee also said that shows like Glee and The Good Wife would have easily fit in with the ABC Entertainment brand, which means he certainly knows his good gay TV. Even though he’s only been in his position for five months, I feel confident that shows like Grey’s, which was picked up for another season today, are in good hands.
