Katharine McPheeKat McPhee, weather girlSomeone just sent me this video of Katharine McPhee. Apparently the American Idol runner-up helped out with the weather and traffic during an appearance in St. Louis last week. If you haven't already seen it and you're a McPhee fan, I don't know whether to warn you or encourage you. I mean, it's sort of silly. But it's also pretty damn charming.
(The video is after the jump.) … continue reading Submitted on August 7, 2007 at 1:46 pm McPheever alert: Cold showers may be requiredAttention, Katharine McPhee fans: What you are about to see might cause a sudden spike in body temperature. Before proceeding, please have ice packs ready. And, possibly, smelling salts. I don’t want any heads exploding on account of an acute case of the McPheever. Right, are you ready? Have you braced yourself? Do you have the proper emergency kit on hand?
Hello. I’m not even really a fan and I’m all, damn. The shot comes from a cover spread by the always demure folks at Stuff magazine. Granted, Stuff isn’t my normal trolling grounds for information (I go there with a grim sense of purpose and determination only for you, AfterEllen.com readers. I swear. Really.), but the corresponding interview — while not particularly deep (what, you were expecting The New Yorker?) — did yield a couple of interesting nuggets. Here are a few with my parenthetical thoughts after each one (yes, I realize I’ve already given you a ridiculous number of parentheticals. It’s Friday, OK?). … continue reading Submitted on July 6, 2007 at 5:30 pm Caption this: Airport McPheever!Last week, the Gossipaholic blog featured some photos of Katharine McPhee at an unnamed airport. I'm usually nonplussed by such photos — uh, so, people go to the airport sometimes? — but one of these caught my eye. Care to try your hand at captioning this little gem? I'm stealing the obvious one. (Sorry. Not really.)
There's also this one, with the dog (dogs, plural?), if you feel I've exhausted the possibilities for the shoe photo: … continue reading Submitted on June 25, 2007 at 11:56 pm Look out movies, here comes the McPheeverKatharine McPhee has signed on to make her film debut in The Last Caller. In the indie flick, described as a dark romantic comedy, McPhee will star (but not sing) as a self-obsessed woman who “searches for love, hope and meaning during a few random events with other urban seekers.” As she told The Hollywood Reporter: "This is the first thing that I read that I really wanted to do. I'm up for a couple of big studio projects, but they weren't starring roles. I wanted to start off doing something a little different. It's something that a lot of people wouldn't expect me doing."
OK, fine, good for her. I’m sure moviegoers the world over can now look forward to catching the McPheever. But, the lead role right off the bat? Certainly, it worked out with golden results for fellow American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson. But, in general, I’m a big fan of the walk-before-you-run theory on pretty much everything — acting, knitting, skydiving, electrical wiring, you name it. … continue reading Submitted on June 5, 2007 at 4:07 pm People magazine's "most beautiful" for 2007This week, People magazine announced its "100 Most Beautiful People" (the issue hits newsstands today). Drew Barrymore gets the title "World's Most Beautiful" — really? They scoured the whole world? Drew must feel pretty special.
There are no big surprises on the list: Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry all made the cut, as did (hooray!) Helen Mirren.
But there is one slightly surprising additional list this year: "Beautiful Without Makeup." That one includes Katharine McPhee, Rashida Jones and Rosario Dawson. This is exactly what they look like in the morning, wearing only their very good genes. … continue reading Submitted on April 27, 2007 at 12:11 pm Tyra has McPheever tooTyra Banks and Katharine McPhee are two sassy, talented vixens. So what did Tyra do when she had Katharine on her show a few weeks ago? She did what anyone would do. She felt Katharine up. (iFilm: http://www.ifilm.com/video/2826811) The whole encounter just makes me love them both all the more. And I think it sends a positive message about body image, too -- what's not to love?
