Sesame StreetTina Fey gets the muppet treatment on "Sesame Street"It’s been a long week. The economy is hanging on by a thread. MTV is pushing incestuous bisexual twins. Showtime is feeding us bad promo puns about lesbian sex. So, I think it’s time we all took a deep breath and soaked our brains in something unabashedly cute for a change. How cute? Liz Lemon as an actual lemon cute.
You can keep your adorable sometimes rambunctious, sometimes narcoleptic Shiba Inu puppies live cam. For me, nothing was cuter this week than the Sesame Street parody of Tina Fey and her show 30 Rock. Submitted on November 21, 2008 at 9:00 am Feist counts "1,2,3,4" on "Sesame Street"It’s not surprising that of all the singers to pick from, Feist was chosen to be on Sesame Street to help kick off their 39th season, which premieres August 11th. Her monster hit single “1,2,3,4” has been reworked into “1,2,3,4 Monsters Crawling Across The Floor” in order to help teach the kiddies learn to count to four. I mean, who cares about learning to count from five to infinitive when Feist is singing to you?
So are you ready to see the cutest thing in the world? There is happy music, singing chickens and penguins, so consider yourself warned. You may want to find someone’s cheeks to grab onto because you are going to want to squeeze the heck out of them once you are done watching the video. Has counting to four ever been so joyful? Watching that makes me want to buy the world a coke, hug each and every one of you and maybe even adopt four dancing penguins. I love counting to four. … continue reading Submitted on July 18, 2008 at 12:00 pm Top TV according to TIME: A surprisingly inoffensive listI generally avoid TIME magazine in favor of less Time-Warner-owned news outlets, but I generally gravitate toward "best of" lists because I love to hate them (see here and here for recent choice examples). So, what to do with TIME's list of the "The 100 Best TV Shows"? Dare I say, agree with it? I feel like Scully acknowledging a paranormal phenomenon as paranormal, but there you have it. Since The X-Files made the cut, at least I'm in (very) good company. The list isn't perfect by a stretch (no Northern Exposure or The Muppet Show), but its author, TIME TV critic James Poniewozik, gets more things right than wrong, and includes quite a few lesbian favorites, Buffy and Battlestar Galactica among them. Submitted on September 13, 2007 at 6:55 pm Avast, cuteness! Tina Fey swashbuckles onto Sesame StreetToday's blog post is brought to you by the letter C. As in, C is for “cuteness.” C is for “Can you handle this much cuteness?” C is for “Cut it out, you’re making my face hurt from smiling at all this cuteness!” Seriously, are you ready? ’Cause this is ridiculously cute.
On Monday, Tina Fey guest starred with Elmo and friends in the premier episode of the 38th season of Sesame Street. The 30 Rock star is one of a slew of big names to make their way to where the air is sweet this year, including Jon Stewart, Anderson Cooper, Rachel Ray, James Blunt and (as already mentioned in B.L.W.E.) the Great Panted One herself, Ellen DeGeneres. But now that I've seen Tina’s appearance, I can say they’d better bring their A games. OK, fine, only if A is the letter of the day. But you get my point.
Tina’s sketch followed the show’s season-long theme of literacy. To wit, she burst in with her motley crew of bookaneers. They were the Pirates of the Care to Be Readin’. And her battle cry was, “Library cards, ho!” The cuteness was truly at mad genius levels. Catch a clip here. If that doesn’t warm the cockles of your heart, then you’re just a hopeless scalawag. … continue reading Submitted on August 14, 2007 at 12:10 pm Stars on "Sesame Street"I love it when my favorite things intersect — like, say, when Heart appears on The L Word, or '80s stars sing a Dreamgirls song. It always surprises and delights me. But I've never been more surprised than I am by the notion of stars of The Sopranos appearing on Sesame Street. They'll drop by for a holiday special, as will Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow and Alicia Keys. Celebrities will help Elmo count down the days to Christmas.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts) and Steve Schirripa (Bobby Baccalieri) "will shed their tough-guy image from their years on Sopranos in a skit in which they will play Bert and Ernie with guidance from the real Muppets." … continue reading Submitted on July 24, 2007 at 3:16 pm |
