Submitted on May 7, 2008 at 9:40 am Gay Girls Who Game: "Grand Theft Auto 4"There's only one game worth talking about this week and it's Grand Theft Auto IV. Tracy and Angela give you the full rundown of GTA IV, from graphics and sound, right through to lesbian viewpoint and politics.
They reveal a lot of surprising feelings about this game and they consider its greater social message along with it's portrayal of women. If you think your mind is already made up about GTA IV, you have to see this vlog — it will make you rethink the whole GTA IV debate. As always, the Lesbiangamers.com founders answer viewer feedback, reveal why there's a link between an ex of Tracy's and the original GTA, and camp it up with pretend guns and lollypops. Submitted on May 6, 2008 at 3:24 pm Come With Me If You Want To Live: "Work Out" 3.3Jenn's best friend Troy joins her and Dee in reviewing this episode of Work Out, which features more lesbian drama on a boat.
Jenn and Dee also answer viewer questions, including whether they liked high school, if they're out to their parents, their religious views, and what they think of labels. And in case you forgot that Jenn and Dee (and Troy) are band geeks at heart, they do some marching band trash-talk at the end of the episode, and Jenn and Dee get into a fight over whose musical instrument is more important. Special shout-out to TalkingGuineaPig (aka Zoe) for creating Come With Me's awesome new intro, and to Kayla Jones for the new graphics! Submitted on May 6, 2008 at 9:30 am This Just Out with Liz Feldman: Jealous Girlfriends, Barbies and ShaneHere it is, Ladies and Gentleladies, the very first episode of This Just Out with Liz Feldman! Liz is a 4-time Emmy winner for her work as a writer/producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Being the over-achiever that she is, Liz is now launching her own limited-run kitchen table comedy show, where she'll be keeping you abreast of the latest and greatest and nearest and queerest. It's a no-budget thrill-ride that's low on tech and high on life.
In this week's episode, Liz is joined by Shane from The L Word (also known as Kate Moennig)! Hold on to your pants — this is one steamy interview! Kinda. (And without spoiling the episode, let me just clarify for those wondering: yes, Kate is on on the joke here.) Submitted on May 5, 2008 at 1:56 pm SHE MADE ME WATCH THIS! Women's Sports MoviesThis episode of SMMWT! is all about women in sports movies! The ones we like, anyway...
Not included? The recent soccer movie Gracie (kinda disappointing), Million Dollar Baby (too depressing), and lots of ice skating movies (whole 'nother genre). Plus probably whatever movie is your favorite, which I'm sure you'll let us know in the comments. You'll also learn how Lori met one of her tennis idols, why you'll never catch her on a surf board, and what movie the Chariots of Fire theme song makes me think of (hint: Wally World!). Special thanks to Kayla Jones for the new SMMWT! graphics! Submitted on May 5, 2008 at 11:42 am Brunch With Bridget: Episode 18 "Brunch with BAM"Yes, it's true. We've been teasing this episode of Brunch with Bridget just like a soap opera. Week upon week of build-up, leaving you wondering "Will it pay off?" The answer is: Yes. Wait no longer. BAM themselves, Eden Riegel (Bianca) and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie) from All My Children fame are Bridget's bedmates this week. The girls answer your questions about their ground-breaking roles on AMC, explain the necessity (or lack thereof) of Zarf to Bridget, and get frisky with a sock monkey. Most importantly, they allow Bridget to fulfill her directorial fantasies (and probably a few fantasies of your own) by acting out a "lost" AMC scene (i.e. one that Bridget wrote) that brings Bianca and Maggie close once again. Really close.
The girls also talk about their post-AMC careers, including their latest project, Imaginary Bitches. You can watch Imaginary Bitches here. You also have a chance to win the sock monkey seen in this episode and autographed by Eden and Elizabeth. Go here for details in how to participate in the AfterEllen.com BAM contest. Submitted on May 4, 2008 at 4:48 am The Gay Agenda: Gay marriage and the Obama/Wright fall-outThe Gay Agenda with VisibleVote08.com's Jennifer Vanasco and John Polly finally returns (Jay was out of town traveling for a bit), and today’s topics are the big ones of the week: The Obama/Wright fall-out, and hashing out last Sunday’s NY Times Magazine cover story on gay marriage. (Now, if only we could get Rev. Wright to preside at some gay weddings, all of these stories could come full circle, right?) The Gay Agenda May 3, 2008
Submitted on May 3, 2008 at 5:54 am What's YOUR Problem? Episode 13In this episdoe, actress and therapist Cathy DeBuono spends some time hanging out with comedian Erin Foley. Despite having just survived a night of "chow fun's revenge," Erin manages to join Cathy for some reminiscing about how they met playing ultimate frisbee, and discussion of three AfterEllen.com viewer letters. Fruits and vegetables come into play when Erin and Cathy examine the large size of their hands.
Lucia asks Cathy questions about learning how to ride while she's washing the "Dinah dirt" off of her bike, Cathy's neighbor Daniel shows up right on time with cocktails, and Erin takes her first motorcycle ride ever on the back of Cathy's Triumph... Submitted on May 1, 2008 at 9:30 am We're Getting Nowhere: The "Baby Mama" EpisodeWe're still anxiously awaiting the premiere of Season 1 of The L Word on Logo, and it's left us no choice but to go see movies. This week, we were all to happy to fill the seats for our girls Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on the opening day of Baby Mama. In case you haven't already heard, Baby Mama is about wealthy business woman Kate (Fey), who discovers that she's infertile and then hires zany working-class gal Angie (Poehler) to be her surrogate. Hijinks ensue when circumstances force junk food-eating, karaoke-singing Angie to move in with health food snob and control-freak Kate. It's like The Odd Couple, but with breast pumps.
So in our special Baby Mama edition of WGN, we review the film, talk about why we love Fey and Poehler, and display some frightening photos of the children we "made" with the "Baby Mama baby maker" program on the Baby Mama website. Watch and decide whose "baby" is the ugliest. Is it mine and Jill's? Dara's and Jill's? Mine and, gulp, Dara's? Warning: Minor Spoilers
Submitted on April 30, 2008 at 3:39 am Gay Girls Who Game: Episode 16This week, LesbianGamers.com founders Angela and Tracy take us on a very special mystery tour, and discuss the beauty of Nintendo moulded plastic. Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters Mario Kart The episode also includes the usual helping of viewer questions and feedback, and a special gift for the viewers. Submitted on April 29, 2008 at 2:55 pm Come With Me If You Want To Live: "Work Out" 3.2Jenn and Dee call out Jackie for kissing on her employees, Rebecca for trying on bikinis, and Briana for not knowing her girlfriend was going on a lesbian cruise.
They also go on tangents about piercings, Maeve Quinlan in a white dress, and the term "the children" (this week's gay slang). The cat makes a plea at the end for a Come With Me If You Want to Live banner, but the cat doesn't know that our wonderful graphic designer Kayla Jones is already working on one for Jenn and Dee — look for that next week.
