Famke JanssenIf Abbie Cornish isn't a Bond Girl, who is?Abbie Cornish is not, I repeat not, the new Bond Girl.
The Olsen twins also are not the new Bond Girls. And just to ease the minds of any aspiring Bond Girls out there, I have taken myself out of the running, too. When actors go to the trouble of announcing that they are most definitely not in certain roles, I envision a kid in a classroom frantically waving her hand, “Pick me! Pick me!” In Cornish’s case, though, a rumor was circulating that she was under consideration for the part. Her good friend Rose Byrne even said it was true. But now that we know better, we can move on to more important things. Like who will be the next bikini-clad hottie to wave her barely covered cleavage my, er, Bond’s way. … continue reading Submitted on September 20, 2007 at 10:00 am Janssen joins cast of "The Wackness"The wacky puns are too easy for this one; Dutch model-turned-actor Famke Janssen has joined a very motley crew — including Method Man, Josh Peck, Ben Kingsley and Mary-Kate Olsen — on the New York City set of indie The Wackness.
The film is about a teenage dealer (Peck) who falls for the daughter of his drug-using psychiatrist (Kingsley), and takes place during 1994, "the greatest year in hip-hop." According to a Q&A posted on Famke-Janssen.org, the AfterEllen.com Hottie No. 51 is set to play Kingsley's wife. I certainly liked Janssen as part of a less motley, more superhuman crew (as did Malinda, who ranked Phoenix as her No. 3 female villain) —
— and I can't complain about her role as one of the Eulogy crowd (not only because of the lesbian factor, I swear), but this news got me wondering when the talented and supergorgeous Janssen will get to be on her own again. Her current picture is ensemble comedy The Ten, and the last movie in which she was one of only two headliners, The Treatment, had only a limited release. … continue reading Submitted on August 13, 2007 at 9:58 pm The Top 10 (Hottest) Female VillainsNow that Lord Voldemort has returned, I've been thinking about villains lately. In particular, sure, He Who Must Not Be Named is scary, but why is it that male villains are usually so unattractive? What is it about evilness that makes male villains turn into hairless, unicorn blood-drinking tyrants with no fashion sense? (See Darth Vader for another option: still hairless, but that helmet clearly makes him fashion-challenged.) Female villains, on the other hand, tend to be uniformly hot (and sometimes uniformed). Maybe it's because the female villain partly emerges from the long (and, dare I say it, glorious) tradition of the dominatrix: She'll whip your ass, and she'll look fantastic while doing it. And no, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Without further ado, here are my top 10 female villains: 10. Jordana Brewster as Lucy Diamond in D.E.B.S. Clad all in black and bent on world domination, Lucy Diamond doesn't let her previously foiled plots (including an attempt to sink Australia) get her down. In D.E.B.S., she sets her sights on D.E.B.S. agent Amy (Sara Foster), and she quickly succeeds in seducing her.
Here's a (mysteriously silent) video of Lucy smooching Amy: … continue reading Submitted on July 13, 2007 at 7:09 pm Celebrity mug shots: the good, the bad and the crumpin'In this month's issue of Jane magazine, stars from the Sundance Film Festival (uh, wasn't that in January?) answered the question "What‘s your crime?" for a photo shoot. These true confessions came in the form of mug shots spelling out these so-called crimes. The spread yielded nary a felony (OK, Paul Rudd's answer raises an eyebrow ... ), but there were plenty of admissions of bad behavior and nasty habits.
My favorite: Mandy Moore pleading guilty to her crimes against our eardrums as the "Singer of 'Candy.'" (Click "read more" to see more celebrity infamy.) … continue reading Submitted on March 28, 2007 at 11:57 am |
