Lili Taylor joining “The Good Wife” as possible love interest for Kalinda

Do you know when you hear something might happen and you are equal parts excited and afraid because 1) it’s so awesome and 2) it’s so awesome now you’re scared it might happen. So instead of jumping up and down and clapping you just politely say “please” and “thank you” and then back away slowly before anyone has time to change their mind. Well that’s exactly my two-fold emotion when I heard Lili Taylor was being brought on to The Good Wife as a “possible romantic foil” for Archie Panjabi‘s Kalinda.

TV Guide reported yesterday that Taylor will join the show as well as Elizabeth Reaser, who will also play a romantic foil but for Will (Josh Charles). [Hat tip, The Good Fan!] You might remember Reaser from the lesbian romantic comedy Puccini for Beginners or, you know, those sparkly vampire movies that make the teenage girls squeal.

Taylor’s character, Donna Seabrook, would make her first appearance in November. Reaser’s character, a sports writer, will debut in the Oct. 19 episode of the legal drama. Both women would return in recurring roles.

So, for those keeping score at home, that means four of the female stars of the show will have played gay in the past or (hopefully) current: Julianna Margulies (What’s Cooking?), Reaser (Puccini for Beginners), Panjabi (The Good Wife, we think) and Taylor (I Shot Andy Warhol, Prêt-à-Porter, Julie Johnson, Gaudi Afternoon, The Addiction). I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since she first sang about how Joe lied when he cried. So for her to land a spot on the hit show and possibly play gay is a twofer I can’t resist.

So, are you excited for this tidbit of casting news? Does this finally clear up Kalinda’s sexuality. And, for heaven’s sake, can we see her kiss Lili in front of a door this time?
