Lady Gaga recently announced that she advocated for her character, Patrizia Reggiani, and Salma Hayek’s character, her TV psychic friend Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma,” to have a sexual relationship in House of Gucci. The scene was filmed and deleted but Gaga hopes it’ll make a director’s cut!
“There’s a whole side of this film that you did not see. Pina (Salma Hayek) and I developed a sexual relationship,” Lady Gaga says and the crowd laughs.
“Should I – Should I tell them?” Salma Hayek jokes.
“Director’s cut – who knows!” Gaga continues. “But this is a testament to him [Ridley Scott] as a director, because he allowed us to go there. And I remember being on set with Salma and going, ‘so after Maurizio dies, maybe, it gets hot?’”
“You think she’s kidding!” Salma says to the crowd.
Ridley Scott has indicated that a director’s cut is in the cards so perhaps Gaga knows more than she’s letting on!
Since House of Gucci was released in November 2021, it has made $150 million at the international box office so far – double its budget. The Blu-ray, DVD, and On-Demand versions will be released on February 22, 2022.
Lady Gaga has been nominated for the 79th Annual Golden Globe awards due to her fantastic portrayal of real-life criminal Patrizia Reggiani in the film.
“I read and looked at everything I could possibly watch to understand her,” Lady Gaga told NPR. “What I found, you know, pretty quickly was that the Patrizia you see now is at the very end of this film.”
“I had to sort of reverse the car of her as a woman and go, OK, well, what made her this way? And I had to decide as an actress, did she have the murder gene? You know, was she born a killer? And I don’t believe she was. I think she was born an Italian woman in Vignola, Italy, December 2, 1948. And I think that it was these trigger points of trauma throughout her life that turned her into what she became, which was a monster.”
