Finally, Veronica Mars is returning to our TV screens.
OK, sorry. Not Veronica Mars, but someone who looks exactly like her: Kristen Bell. Bell has joined the cast of the new Showtime pilot House of Lies, which starts production this month. We haven’t seen Bell on television for more than guest roles since her stint on Heroes in 2008.
Bell plays Jeannie Van Der Hooven, who may or may not sign her texts “XOXO.” Jeannie is a “razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate” working for cutthroat management consultant Marty, played by Don Cheadle. True Blood‘s Dawn Olivieri also stars as Marty’s ex.
House of Lies is a half-hour dark comedy – Showtime’s specialty – written by Dirt creator Matthew Carnahan and based on the bestseller House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, by Martin Kihn. I’d say the book title gives us a pretty good idea of the tone of the show.
No other details on storylines, but we know that Showtime is not shy about LGBT friendly programming. And Bell and Olivieri would certainly make a lovely couple.
