Octavia Spencer, Kate Winslet, Jessica Lange and Meryl Streep were among the winners this year, as were any viewers who enjoyed the "show us your globes" theme of the dresses worn by many of the stars.
Despite its usual suspects of some all-too-predictable winners, the 63rd annual Emmy Awards managed to pack in a few very big and very deserving surprises.
