Ellen addresses the Starbucks holiday cup controversy in her own special way

Who would have thought that in November 2015, the controversy that no one could stop talking would about coffee cups. Red Starbucks coffee cups to be exact. It’s been less than a week and Cup-gate is in full swing. This year, Starbucks opted to go with a simply red cup to celebrate the holiday season, rather than one with more traditional holiday scenes like in years past. According to Starbucks, “creating a culture of belonging, inclusion and diversity is one of the core values of Starbucks, and each year during the holidays the company aims to bring customers an experience that inspires the spirit of the season. Starbucks will continue to embrace and welcome customers from all backgrounds and religions in our stores around the world.”

Sounds great, right? Well cue the outrage! Some Christian groups are taking the coffee giant to task for removing the holiday decorations on the cups and in turn (stay with me here) removing the Christianity as well.

Well Ellen DeGeneres sure had something to add to the conversation on her show yesterday, and in her most Ellen way, brought humor and thoughtfulness to it at the same time.
