Are you willing to make sacrifices
for the sake of art?
If so, and you live near Burbank,
CA, this is your chance to explore strange new worlds — like the set
of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie. Open casting call is this Saturday,
November 10, 2:30–5 p.m., at 3108 Magnolia Blvd., across from Pinocchio’s
Everyone is welcome, male or female, ages
18–70, any ethnicity, as long as you are "thin, athletic
[and] fit," have brown or black hair and are OK with having part of your eyebrows
shaved in case
you are cast as a Vulcan or Romulan. If you’ve already had your ears sculpted, so much the better.
Here’s how to get the inside
track: look "interesting."
"Talent with interesting
and unique facial features such as: long necks, small heads, extremely
large heads, wide-set eyes, bug eyes, close-set eyes, large forehead,
short upper lip, pronounced cheekbones, over- or undersized ears and/or
nose, facial deformities, ultra plain-looking people, ultra perfect-looking
people, pure wholesome looks, twins, triplets, emaciated talent, regally
poised and postured talent, or other visually unique characteristics."
You know, a woman with several
of those features asked me to dance at a women’s bar a few weeks ago.
Too bad I lost her number — she’d be a shoo-in.
What can you expect if you
get cast? The opportunity to have a professional makeup artist help
you look your best.
A designer wardrobe.
And a chance to work with a
diverse group of fellow actors.
Oh, one thing you should know.
These roles likely are redshirts, which means you’ll probably get killed.
But hey, death scene.
