Sister Spit’s spring tour is Tea-tastic

Sister Spit’s Next Generation is on the road again for their 2010 North American tour — hopefully coming to a city near you. Leave it to Michelle Tea to wave her magical wand and gather the best and brightest queer culture has to offer at the moment for us all to gawk at conveniently grouped in one space.

Tea fans have been anticipating the continuation of her legendary spoken word tour and she’s got some serious talent in tow, including video maker Silas Howard, comic artist Elisha Lim, zinester Nicole J. Georges, poet/playwright Lenelle Moise and artist Annie Danger. There are also special guests such as Lynne Breedlove and Ali Liebegott at the San Francisco date, April 8.

My question: When do any of these women have time to sleep? Sheesh.

Spoken word and performance is alive and well in small circuits across the land and Sister Spit is giving us a refreshed view point from the same tried and true Tea. Missed it last time around? No worries — rumor has it that the merch table is sure to be stocked with garb that will keep your mind buzzing long after the show. Tours past have had tons of hype, and Sister Spits of old have nothing but rave reviews. Hell, I’m so disappointed that their Seattle tour date had to be cancelled due to a booking conflict that I’m ready to offer up my own living room. Wouldn’t that be awfully lesbian of me?

So go, and wear your best Doc Martens while you’re at it just for in spirit of things. Almost every show is entirely free, but donations are wildly appreciated — and needed. I don’t think I need to remind you to mind your manners and support the ones you love, especially the not for profit circuit. The tour is kept best up to date on the Sister Spit website.
