Wow!
Sam F is fabulous! She has that whole sexy, sweet, funny, do it yourself cause you're powerful woman thing that is certainly attractive. THANKS sarah! I lovvvved that you spoke up about South of Nowhere's bias...or whatever it is that's lacking in it's portrayal of lesbianism. I don't think I can adequately term it myself. Thanks for bringing into the light these characters and behind the scene lesbians. I'll certainly be checking her out online and keeping an eye out for her in the smaller film festival crowds!
PS. I can't access the link for episode 8. It goes to 7 when I click on it.
Peace,
chrissy e.
well done again
Pardon me for all the cultural stereotypes I might be poking here but this show is really girly!
I mean the chatty and gossipy part constantly mixing with the slightly more societal and cultural themes in the discussion. I really like this mixture: it is entertaining yet leaves some things to think about.
Thumbs up again and again..tired thumbs
Awesome!
I totally agree with Lauren on Jennifer Hudson. I wanted Rinko Kikuchi to win too. And I hate the fact that she bashes AI and Simon. I thought it was way too early for her to be sweeping awards.
I loved Sam Farinella as the guest. She fit right in. Good interview. Staceyann was on fire! Hee! Unveiled.
Alix!
I've been a serious fan of Alix for about two years now (I just hadn't heard of her before that, else I would have been a fan much longer) and it's great she's getting this exposure.
Great installment again ladies!
Thanks!!!
I was happy to see the
I was happy to see the subject of SON's controversy broached in this edition.
Regrettably, the "somebody will always complain" answer didn't go a long way in soothing my lingering angst over this past season. For a fledgling series that had such promise, SON seemed to wilt into the ridiculous this season, yet people connected to the series don't seem to be concerned that fans were disappointed or interested in offering a straighforward, plausible explaination. When so many viewers voice similar concerns, apathy or a dismissive shrug would not seem to be the wisest of responses. The L Word is learning that lesson the hard way as it struggles to recoup flagging ratings this season.
word...
At Ease
Everyone seemed very at ease this time around, a sign that you guys are hitting your stride with SSW. This is my favorite "column" on AE (sorry Scribe!).
Sarah, do you ever sit back and just marvel at your accomplishments (especially in regards to how AE has evolved)? I've been reading AE for a little over 3 years now, and I'm amazed...and I'm just a reader.
Sam was a very engaging guest, BTW. Nice to see someone who looked excited to be there and happy to discuss various topics.
(side note: my cable station actually carries LOGO now. I was stunned to come across it channel surfing the other day. Times, they are a-changin'. YAY.)
You're funny!!!
You did it again
Good episode. Luv seeing u girls chatting.
I was conflicted with Jennifer H taking home the gold man. I Like Rinko K's performance also. But Jennifer H still did diserve it. So I'm OK with her winnig.
I was disapointed, with the "somebody will always complain" answer that was giving to the SON's lack of physical affection btw the girls. This answer doesn't do it for me. A fact is a Fact: There is a double standard like Sarah has point out. If I was there I would tell them to go watch SUGAR RUSH, and see how they portray affection btw teen. Eighter they give me a real nice long kiss. And when I say long, I don't mean the 2 second crap that SON had give me for the G but the 10 to 20 second that they give me when there is an heterosexual physical affection display. And please no more brushing the hair or dancing when I should be viewing full make-out session. IS IT TO MUCH TO ASK???
I like your guess. It's nice to see the people who's being working behind the curtains.
Thanks again for the show. And luv each on of you 4.
Another Great Episode!
Thumbs up for getting interesting guests on the show, guys! Keep it up! Very glad that y'all talked a bit about the Oscars - which truly, was the best one yet! I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed the entire show so thoroughly! It's also the year of the lesbians too, which adds to the level of satisfaction - Ellen, Portia, Jodie, Melissa, Tammy, the costume designer from "The Devil Wears Prada" who was nominated, gosh! And it was Helen Mirren's and Marty Scorsese's year - YAY!!!! Actually, while I really wanted Marty to win all throughout the years especially when his last movie, "The Aviator," was nominated which I thought totally deserved it but... For him to get the Best Director award for something like "The Departed," which I thought was one of his weakest work yet. The movie (don't even get me started!) was just so disconnected. It just shows that despite putting together a whole bunch of A-list actors, if the story ain't connected properly, actors definitely won't FEEL their characters. That's what bothered me so much when I watched it. Perhaps also it was because I watched the original first and got blown away by it 'coz I didn't think I'd seen that kind of storyline before - sure, loads of undercover stories but never from the mob in the police force! Anyway, I was so looking forward to seeing "The Departed" but it just disappointed me. Anyway, back to Marty, I think he got this Award this year as a consolation price kind of thing - it was more for his entire body of work throughout the years. The Academy has a habit of doing that. Remember Al Pacino who was nominated like 8 times before he won Best Actor for his lesser performance in "A Scent of A Woman"? Then when "The Departed" also got the Best Picture award, I was furious 'coz "Babel" deserved to win!! Even Marty himself was shocked! Just goes to show how weird the Academy works!
Sorry, rambling too much about the Oscars!! Just wanted you guys to know how appreciative I am that you guys did talk a wee bit about the Oscars this year 'coz hey, Year of the Lesbians (so to speak since our Ellen hosted it!), right? Heheh!!
Looking forward to watching the next episode of "She Said What?!" Keep those great guests and interesting topic of discussions going! Hopefully very soon y'all could think about stretching the duration of the episode, eh? :)
Thanks for letting us watch it here!!!
super cool!
Danso
You guy's should've asked Sam about the whole Danso Gordon controversy... apparently it took him two seasons to figure out he was in a gay show... or maybe he just watched the spashley scenes and assumed they're just best friends because of the lack of affection... i don't know... maybe
crs
"I was feeling her arms" "I
"I was feeling her arms" "I wanted them around me"
hahahahahah!
Loving it
Being notice a little bit more
I am all glad for Ellen getting the opportunity to host; it is a big thing in my book. I believe there will be always racism; people just have to find ways to live with it. Hint probably need stand together; yeah it worked for others. Unfortunately society has not even gotten over the black and white issue. How many years have we been battling that issue? Just sad. Anyhow
I enjoy watching the South Of Nowhere; I wish that show came out sooner. I was struggling when I was growing up. It was nice to have something to relate to. L Word is interesting, and it is irates me at the same time. It is like listening to an awful song but you cannot stop listening to it because it has a catchy tune or something. L Word is almost turning into a Soap. I believe Bette's new love interest will be a setup for heart break. Bette seems like she is missing something, its probably Tina. I said it I admit Bette and Tina should be together.
I'm sorry but
