Sela Ward brings a new level of heat to “CSI: New York”

When I watch CSI, I have the remote control in hand. See, I have a weak stomach and when they start tweezing skin bits and taking semen samples, I have to hit “mute.” So, you know, I don’t watch it regularly.

But that’s about to change, now that my fantasy wife has been cast in CSI: New York.

Sela Ward is gorgeous, to be sure. I fell in love with her on screen when she played Teddy in Sisters. Remember that? Teddy wore lots of leather, rode a motorcycle, and had a swagger that said, “I’m going to come out any minute now.” (Which reminds me, why isn’t Sisters on DVD?)

Then I read that she’s just as awesome in real life as she is on TV. She got her assistant a BMW for Christmas once. A BMW! And she’s Southern and opened a shelter for homeless kids and loves puppies. OK, I made up that last part, but I bet she does.

And of course, she played Lily Manning, the very definition of MILF, on Once & Again.

On CSI:NY, Ward will play “an experienced investigator from Washington D.C. whose work is driven by her empathy for the victims,” replacing Melina Kanakeredes as Gary Sinese’s partner. The only problem is that CBS has seen fit to move CSI:NY to Friday as a lead in to Tom Selleck’s new show, Blue Bloods.

Still, I’m hoping that seeing Sela Ward back on TV will remind casting directors how awesome she is. I, for one, think she needs a show of her own.

What do you think? Do you watch CSI: New York? Will this change your viewing habits?
