Sarah Silverman took home an Emmy last night for her HBO variety special We are Miracles, but we wanted to know about her recent guest spot on Masters of Sex as Betty’s lover, Helen.
“The part of Helen was mentioned in the pilot episode actually and according to [show creator] Michelle Ashford, they’ve always kind of had me in mind,” Sarah said in the Emmys press room. “And then I started fucking the star and it really solidified it. Or maybe not.”
Sarah, who is dating Masters of Sex star Michael Sheen, also talked about baring her boobs in a recent sex scene with Annaleigh Ashford.
“Yeah, I feel like I’ve suddenly being nudity since I’ve turned 40,” she said. “They’re just boobs. Hey, yeah, there as low as they’ve ever been, but they’re also as high as they’ll ever be from this point on.”
Sarah said the reason she ran up on stage without shoes on to accept her award was, well, her feet were in pain.
“The shoes hurt. They’re really nice. They’re by Geppetto. I remember that because he made Pinocchio and clearly designed shoes for the Nazi war effort,” she joked. Then she said to her publicist, “Don’t be mad at me.”
A reporter asked how her Jewish mom would feel about her going shoeless and Sarah quipped: “Well my Jewish mom wears overalls and two different colored socks so I think she’d think it was cool.”
Sarah said she was “shocked” about winning the Emmy, and that her manager was, too.
“And then I was like ‘Why are you shocked?'” she said. “But we were both shocked. It was very exciting.”
As for the vaporizer pot pen she pulled out on the red carpet earlier, Sarah explains “I’m not high!”
“No I wasn’t stoned. I had pot for later in my purse,” Sarah said. “It’s legal! I don’t drink. I like to have a puff as a treat at appropriate times.”
Sarah looked gorgeous in her Marni dress, which she said was “the first one I tried on.”
“These stylists Emily and Merit, I do whatever they tell me and I love this,” she said. “It’s got pockets.”
After the show, she planned on eating some comfort food.
“I always have a nice 7-11 dinner,” Sarah said. “Kraft macaroni singles and a peanut butter jelly sandwich on toast.”
