Sarah Paulson stars in one of Sundance’s biggest films

This year’s big buzz film at Sundance is Martha Marcy May Marlene, a film about Martha, a teenage girl (played by Elizabeth Olsen) whose life is a bit of a mystery. Out of nowhere, she contacts her older sister, Lucy, who she hasn’t seen in two years, and struggles to come to grips with where she’s been and what’s been done to her while living in a commune. It’s all a bit of a mystery, but it sounds fascinating, and is receiving superb reviews.

Playing Lucy is out lesbian actress Sarah Paulson, whom IndieWire writes, “does excellent work … comfortable, clueless, and yet more than willing to listen to the little Martha is able to convey to her.”

Here are a few video interviews with Paulson and some of her fellow castmates and writers of the film from this week at the festival.

Martha Marcy May Marlene has been picked up by Fox Searchlight, so it’s likely to hit theaters sometime this year. Olsen is the It Girl of Sundance this year, and there’s already Oscar buzz about her performance for Academy Awards 2012.

Paulson, for the record, plays straight and married in the film, and so far, no one has complained about it not being believable because she’s a lesbian IRL.

In other Paulson news, The Hollywood Reporter noted that she attended a pre-screening dinner with “partner Cherry Jones” so it appears the two are back together.

Are you excited to see Sarah on the big screen, coming soon to a theater near you?
