It wasn’t so long ago that Aussie TV personality Ruby Rose was keeping her lips sealed on her significant other, despite her public romance with model Catherine McNeil. Back in November, fans noticed she was engaged on Facebook, but the rumors were later denied. Yesterday, Woman’s Day reported that Ruby had confirmed her engagement, and the false report was picked up by several outlets.
Rose allegedly told Woman’s Day:
I am blessed, I am lucky … I am really lucky, my missus is amazing. We never talk about our relationship, because it is so sacred. But one thing everybody knows is I am lucky and I am happy and if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t do what I do now.
The Herald-Sun reported that they saw Ruby and Catherine at a 666 Vodka event in Los Angeles last week, both said to be wearing engagement rings: Rose’s an emerald-cut diamond with two side baguettes, and McNeil’s a sapphire and diamond-encrusted sparkler.
But Ruby took to Twitter, saying, “I have never in my life spoken to Woman’s Day, I have never even met anyone from that magazine.”
Rose has good reason to keep mum on the subject of romance. Her relationship with Veronicas singer Jess Origliasso left paparazzi speculating and fans gossiping. The Herald-Sun notes that it is difficult for Rose and O’Neil to maintain their relationship, seeing as how Rose lives in Australia (having recently made the move from Sydney to Melbourne) and McNeil lives in New York City.
Rose is currently a host on The 7 PM Project and Ultimate School Musical: Fame. She has been open about her sexuality since starting her career as a model at 16.
McNeil is also from Australia and began modeling at 14. She’s graced the covers of French Vogue and V and has been featured in ads of campaigns for designers such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Sorry to hear it’s not true, ladies — or at least part of it.
