Evan Rachel Wood discusses her bisexuality with “Esquire”

Actress Evan Rachel Wood has starred in a handful lesbian roles in her career and now she’s addressing her own sexuality in the new issue of Esquire. While discussing her current single status, she tells the magazine:

[I’m] up for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl … I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls … I’m into androgyny in general.
Wood says of her relationships with women:
I’m more of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one. I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah I’m romantic.
This is the first time Wood has publicly acknowledged her bisexuality. She first played a lesbian on the television series Once & Again and then the gay daughter of Mickey Rourke in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. Currently, she stars as lesbian vampire queen Sophie-Ann on True Blood. Other gayish roles include the manipulative teen in Pretty Persuasian and Nikki Reed’s BFF in Thirteen. Wood has famously dated musician Marilyn Manson, though she told Esquire it is over between them and they are just friends now and she respects his work. She also mentioned that she’d marry her Mildred Pierce mother, Kate Winslet, if she could. Her saying so was what prompted Esquire to ask if she dates women, to which they say write she answered yes “proudly, as if she was waiting to be asked.”
