In the wake of the recent suicides of so many of LGBT teens, Chely Wright has joined the fight to put an end to homophobic bullying. She appeared on Larry King last month with Kathy Griffin, Wanda Sykes, Lance Bass and Tim Gunn, and now she has lent her voice to GLSEN’s Safe Space Campaign.
The goal of the project is to put a Safe Space Kit in every middle and high school in America. Each kit includes stickers and posters that declare “This is a safe and inclusive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and their allies.” It also includes tools to help staff assess the climate of the school and advocate for positive changes for LGBT students.
Check out Chely’s PSA below.
And here is an additional PSA from the cast of Modern Family.
Do you think GLSEN’s Safe Space Campaign could make a difference for teenagers? Will you send one to your middle or high school?
