Today’s New York Daily News includes an Oprah Gayle tidbit:
… Oprah Winfrey may be just plain mad at […] Jamie Foxx after the way he made the talk queen and her gal pal Gayle King the punch line of a joke at Sunday’s American Museum of the Moving Image tribute to Will Smith.Okay. First of all, that’s kinda funny. Second, I think he meant lying, not laying, although in this context there’s no way to be sure. But most importantly, what’s with the anticipated anger? As far as I can tell, Oprah hasn’t reacted at all, and there’s nothing about her past behavior that suggests she’ll go ballistic about it. TMZ.com makes the same supposition, saying “Oprah Winfrey will not be amused.”“I was talking about you the other day,” Foxx told Smith. “I was laying in bed with Oprah, and I turn over to Gayle and I say, ‘You know what?'” Howls of laughter muffled Foxx’s last line, but the Oscar winner went on to say he hoped Bravo cuts the gag from its broadcast of the gala. (As you know, Oprah and Gayle have scoffed at talk that they’re lovers.)
Yeah, I know: this is how gossip columns work. But I hope Oprah doesn’t take the bait. (After all, she’s probably much more worried about the possibility that people think she uses the N-word regularly, though Gayle is anxiously trying to head off those rumors too.) Wow. They really would make a lovely couple, wouldn’t they? No, I take it back! I’m sorry, Miss Winfrey!
