Wanda Sykes and wife Alex welcome twins

Comedian and actor Wanda Sykes and her wife Alex welcomed twins on April 27, a rep for Sykes has just revealed to People magazine.

Alex gave birth to the babies, the first children for the couple. Their daughter, Olivia Lou, weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., and was 19-inches long. Son Lucas Claude arrived at 7 lbs., 9 oz., and 20-inches long.

Wanda’s rep told People, "All are happy and healthy and at home."

It’s been a big year for Wanda. She and Alex (who has so far stayed out of the public eye) were married on October 25, 2008, before Proposition 8 outlawed same-sex marriage in California, then Wanda famously came out at an anti-Prop 8. rally in November. In addition to her ongoing role in the CBS comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine, Sykes continues to do stand-up and is a frequent guest on talk shows like Ellen to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

This weekend, Wanda hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and she’ll be hosting her own weekly talk show on Fox beginning this fall.

Wanda will appear on The Tonight Show on May 27 as one of Jay Leno‘s last guests before he hands over the reigns to Conan O’Brien. No doubt he’ll ask her about being a new mom; tune in to see what she says about that and the Correspondents’ Dinner.
